Gebling is a narrow strip of wine terraces that stretches from Krems via Rohrendorf to Gedersdorf. The terraces face south; here the calcareous weathered stone conglomerate is partially covered by metre-deep layers of loess. Many of the finest wines from well-known estates are grown in this vineyard site, quite rich in tradition and first officially mentioned in 1284. Kremser Gebling from Vorspannhof Mayr is a complex Grüner Veltliner with elegant spiciness, a fascinating interplay of fruit with acidity and great aging potential. A fine companion for hearty dishes of white meat as well as dark.
