Grüner Veltliner vrech

In 2023, we harvested a Grüner Veltliner from our oldest vines in the Frechau vineyard that impressed us so much while maturing in the cellar that we decided to bottle it – Grüner Veltliner vrech. “Vrech” is derived from the old vineyard name of Frechau and means lush, lively and courageous – which applies perfectly to this wine.
The Frechau vineyards stand on multi-level loess deposits that can be up to 20 meters thick. The vineyard lies next to the Kremser Sandgrube, but slopes slightly more to the east. The soil warms up quickly and well. The orientation ensures a warm microclimate, whereby the nightly cooling during the ripening phase of the grapes in the fall is very noticeable.

Vinification

Before pressing, we crushed the exceptionally ripe and healthy grapes – otherwise we mainly work with whole-cluster pressing. The wine was matured in large wooden barrels, where we left it to mature for a long time.
