At the Salzburg Festival, you can enjoy not only culture, but also wine. Every year, two official festival wines are chosen to be served in the gastronomy around the festival. And the Festival white wine – great honor for us! – comes this year from our winery. It is a Grüner Veltliner, a typical Kremstal DAC from the exceptional vintage 2021, finely fruity, spicy, with fresh acidity, juicy and lively on the palate. “Wine is, after all, also a cultural asset, and it is nice when our wine can inspire and refresh the guests of the Salzburg Festival,” says winemaker Silke Mayr.
The Grüner Veltliner Edition Festival Wine was presented and tasted for the first time together with the red Festival Wine from the Feiler Artinger Winery in Rust/Burgenland, traditionally at the start of the Salzburg Whitsun Festival. Not only the two selected festival wines, but also their presentations are something very special: The labels are decorated with pictures of the artist Rebecca Horn, which were taken from the program illustrations of the Salzburg Festival 2022. The Grüner Veltliner Edition Festival Wine is available at the Festival Shop, at the office of the Friends of the Salzburg Festival, at selected Salzburg restaurateurs and retailers, as well as at our winery in Droß.
